Staff are polite, helpful, and friendly. Store generally has what I need in stock. Pharmacy staff are knowledgeable. The only downside is that the parking lot, which is a pay lot owned by the City of Oakland and over which CVS have no control, sometimes is crowded with parking tight and lanes constricted because of box trucks making deliveries to nearby stores.

I had to go to this CVS pharmacy twice to get a blood pressure medication billed correctly. The first time I was there, I learned my insurance plans were transitioning. My inactive plan was being treated as primary, which meant the prescription cost over one-hundred dollars. Afterwards, I spent an afternoon on the phone with my insurers to get the primary/secondary order clarified. When I returned a week later, the prescription still wasn’t being run through the secondary plan. When I pointed out that it wasn't being billed correctly, I was told it was essentially an issue on my end, even though I’d already confirmed that the secondary will pay once the pharmacy sees that the primary insurer will not. There was a long line and only two windows open, and the person helping me was a little curt. I definitely felt pressured to just overpay for the prescription without insurance in order to keep things moving. This is a common generic medication, and the out-of-pocket quote was extremely high compared with other pharmacies--which is another, more overarching issue with CVS's general business practices. I’m used to paying around $15-$30 elsewhere without insurance. At this CVS, I was quoted over $400 self-pay, and around $100 with the inactive plan. Outrageous. But what immediately impacted me was the lack of due diligence. Anyone can see that with two insurances, there's been a mistake somewhere. As pharmacy providers, they have a responsibility to ensure that the customer's not overpaying by billing insurances correctly. The person helping me didn't know what the issue was and placed the blame on me rather than researching the problem in their system. In any case, I'm lucky enough to have a car and be in good shape, so I'm going to be exploring the non-chain pharmacies around Pill Hill and Oakland. Hopefully I'll find somewhere that will do a better job with handling insurance issues.

I always get quick service at myCVS Store. The pharmacists are very attentive to my pre Scriptions.

The pharmacy is always super packed, so you might have to wait for a bit, but the staff here are super nice and I've never had any issues with my prescriptions (at least, not any that were their fault). Not sure what the other reviews are talking about. Just wish they were more staffed and everything wasn't as locked up.

This store has changed a lot in the past few years. I only go here now if I have a specific item that I know they will have. Unfortunately, the line is just too long and the store is just packed full of stuff that you can't actually get without having to ask someone to unlock it.
