Shawn Wood a month agoI went to the Er department tonight and four hour later. Still wasn’t seen. I went up the nurses desk and they told me emergency comes first. So I have a nephrostomy tube which is tunnel and bleeding and infected but you can let a patient that just got there for vomit go back and get a room. Makes lots of sense. I took of my wrist band and told them that they need to get a better er department. Don’t get me wrong the hospital is wonderful but the er department sucks. And what really sucks is my test results was back at 6:44 pm but yet still waiting to see the er doctor
Melissa Garrett a month agoI visited the Emergency Department because I was experiencing severe back and leg pain and was concerned that something more serious could be happening. During my visit, I felt that my concerns were dismissed because I have a history of chronic pain. After filing a complaint with Patient Advocacy, I received a written response stating that the Emergency Department does not perform imaging for chronic back and leg pain and that my treatment was considered appropriate. My concern was never simply that I have chronic pain. My concern was whether my symptoms represented a new or worsening condition that required further evaluation. Chronic pain patients can still experience injuries, complications, infections, neurological problems, and other serious medical issues. I understand that emergency departments must make difficult decisions and cannot perform every test requested. However, patients deserve to feel heard, have their symptoms fully evaluated, and receive clear explanations regarding why certain tests are or are not being performed. If you live with chronic pain, be aware that this facility may focus on symptom management and referral back to your primary care physician or specialist rather than conducting additional diagnostic testing. That may be appropriate in some cases, but patients should understand what to expect before seeking care here. I hope the hospital will continue improving how it communicates with and evaluates patients who live with chronic pain, because chronic illness should not automatically result in a patient’s concerns being minimized.
*** a week agoThe University Health Long Covid Clinic was unhelpful, neglectful and caused me more harm than good. They offered no treatment or further testing after a very basic blood panel. They do not even provide basic medications that are inexpensive, well researched, front line treatment in places like Stanford and the Mayo clinic. Not all of their staff was even masking and this was during one of the highest rates of covid in KC. A joke.
Jordan Grey 2 months agoDO NOT HAVE YOUR BABY HERE!!! My wife went into preterm labor and was having active contractions. They were able to stop the contractions but they soon admitted her until she got to 34 weeks. She has been in here for 12 days and some of the nurses have been careless and haven’t listened to a single thing we have said. Several nurses tried to start IVs in my wife’s arms but blew out the veins and instead of listening and getting the ultrasound to find a vein, multiple nurses made it a challenge/game to see who can get it in. My wife now has several massive bruises on both her arms. They eventually had to put a PIC line in her arm. Which the PIC team wasn’t the nicest either and kept touching non clean stuff with their sterile gloves on. And the nurses would constantly leave their trash on the floors and the bed. Even left a sharp on the couch bed I was sleeping on. The toilet had a pipe leak and would spill water every time you flushed and the paper towel dispenser was broken so every time you pulled the paper towels the whole roll would fall out. They would not keep to the schedules they instilled on day 1. My wife has to take her medication at 8pm every night but sometimes they wouldn’t even bring them in until 10pm. They had to move her to different rooms which is very inconvenient. The doctors gave us a game plan to induce my wife at midnight and the nurses didn’t come in until ten minutes after to tell us they won’t be doing it now because a couple other women came in in active labor. Sorry to hear about that but you made a plan and you should stick to it. Get more people that can do their job. We have been staying here for 12 days straight my wife is ready to have a baby. Let’s go people. Like I said don’t have your baby here. There’s more stuff that happened that’s frustrating. This review probably won’t do anything but my wife and I wish we had gone to a different hospital. We are still here now. If we could switch hospitals now we would. This is ridiculous.
