I’ve had numerous visits to this Walgreens on Market Street, and unfortunately, my experience has been consistently frustrating and disappointing. Long wait times: The lines at the pharmacy and checkout are almost always long, and it feels like it takes forever to get served — even when there are only a few people ahead of you. Customers seem to be left waiting without clear communication about how long the wait will be. Rude and unhelpful staff: A lot of the interactions with staff have felt unfriendly and sometimes downright rude. It often feels like you’re bothering them just by asking questions or needing help. Several customers have also mentioned similar issues with customer service and attitudes. Insurance hassles: Every single time I’ve tried to use my insurance, they give me a hard time with it — even when the information is correct. Instead of smoothly processing it, I’ve been forced to pay out-of-pocket and deal with the hassle later. This is unacceptable for a pharmacy service. Many others report general problems with insurance processing at Walgreens nationwide. Overall service quality: Between the long waits, lack of helpful customer service, and repeated insurance headaches, this location feels consistently under-staffed and overwhelmed. While some customers occasionally report positive experiences, the negative ones — like long waiting times, rude staff, and messy service — seem to be the norm here.

Dear Walgreens Pharmacy Team, I am a frequent customer at your #04609 1301 Market St. San Francisco, CA 94103 store, and I wanted to reach out specifically to highlight the exemplary service provided by staff, Alyssa and Christina Vivian, Pharmacist. During my visit on 04/11/2026, Alyssa, assisted me with finding my prescription as other staff failed to locate prior to Saturday morning, resolving a prescription issue. Their professional demeanor and helpful attitude were truly impressive and made a lasting positive impression. I don’t understand how these people stay in business. Every single item in the store is locked up. And they don’t hire ANY staff, so no one will come help you get what you need. The number of times I’ve sat there waiting for 10+ minutes only to just leave because, as fun as it is to spend the limited time we mortals have on planet Earth standing around mindlessly staring at the shelfs at a Walgreens, I do unfortunately have a job and a life and places I need to be. And don’t get me started on the pharmacy. I’ve started to go to a pharmacy clear across town instead of this one, which is only blocks from my house, because I was sick of waiting an hour every single time I come in. And of getting a message that my prescription was ready to pick up, only to arrive and find out they hadn’t even *started* filling it yet. (A thing that has happened on more than one occasion.) Yes it’s basically the only convenience store in this neighborhood. But given you can’t actually buy anything here, what’s the point of it staying open? Shut it down and maybe someone who actually wants to run a functioning and useful business can take it over.

Have fun waiting in the aisle waiting for someone to help you. EVERY thing is behind glass, and then once you get your item the next item is also behind glass but the helper is gone already, only to finally get your stuff and then go in line at the register for the one employee to have to go open the glass for other patrons. The staff is all great! To be clear they deal with some of the worst patrons I have ever seen from mental distress to condescending rich people taking out rage on someone they can. The Walgreens employees at this store have never let me down, but the company has let them down.

This Walgreens has excellent customer service and it's location on MARKET near civic center IN SAN FRANCISCO is extremely helpful being central to accessing this beautiful city.
